Historical facts on the Dresden State Operetta

Operettas, comedies and comic operas have a long-standing tradition in Dresden spans all the way back to the 19th century. During the bombing of Dresden in 1945 many of the magnificent venues, such as the Central or Residence Theater, were destroyed. After the war, a new and vibrant theater scene quickly reestablished itself. The former ball House "Fairy palace" in the Leuben suburb became the "Apollo Theater", and in 1967 the "Dresden State Operetta".
